Upmarket centre … downmarket service!

You’d think that a modern and upmarket centre like Sandton City would actually “work” … and generally it does. But when you are a stranger in this paradise and things begin to go wrong it seems that it goes wrong with a vengeance!

To start with, take the entrances! And there are many – they don’t have maps in obvious places with a “You are HERE” marker. What I found was an electronic billboard that was a touchscreen in places away from the entrances to the Centre. The theory is that you touch, swipe and tap your way around the virtual-centre and then, Hey Presto, you’d be able to find your way to your destination. Which would be great if the electronic billboards worked. But they don’t.
