It is widely regarded as the definitive online business directory and guide to the Overberg – one of the most divergent and inviting areas in South Africa. When the website was developed the excellent SEO (search engine optimisation) ensured that most searches on the internet brought theoverberg.com listings to the top of the search engine pages. This has given the Overberg region more prominence than it ever had in the past.

Did you know about Greyton House?

Greyton owl croppedThe school creates “A Childhood to Remember” in a wholesome and secure country environment, encouraging innovation and creativity, both in learning opportunities and in the development of the children. An impromptu, open-air science laboratory or a practical lesson about alien vegetation or rivers, or a clamber up the gorge, are all within a few minutes’ walk of the school.

Education at Greyton House strives to build confident, respectful and enriched children who are academically and socially equipped to face the challenges of a wider world. We provide a caring environment where each child’s unique potential is unlocked and celebrated.

The school offers a fully representative curriculum presented by highly competent, experienced and dedicated teachers.

Greyton is known as the “jewel of the Overberg” and no wonder: apart from the exquisite setting, it must be one of the few places where parents can safely allow their children the freedom to cycle to friends, walk to school, skip down to the café and fish in the river.

We agree with Nelson Mandela, who used the quote: “It takes a village to raise a child.”

Please share this information – it could change a life for the better!

Cruising through the Overberg …

Greyton House entranceI’m looking forward to a productive day … cruising through the beautiful Overberg to the village of Greyton to visit Monique & Bev at Greyton Estates … then on to the Greyton House Village School (the independent, co-educational English medium school, catering for children from Grades 00–9) to chat for a while … then meeting Melody who has the lovely Three Willows.

Caledon will see me exploring the premises for the new Wimpy that will be opening soon. I might even have time for a few “snaps” along the way …

Save the date … Mime – voir – couture

Celebrity models include Dieter Voigt and Vicki Davis, presenters of Pasella on SABC2,
Ewan Strydom and Leigh-Anne Williams, presenters of Expresso on SABC3, Miss
South Africa 2009 Nicole Flint, top model Amanda de Waal, actor Ty Keogh, currently

Mime Voir Couture is being organised by Coenie V Promotions and features Charlene
Sauerman, an esteemed and established couture bridal designer in South Africa, and
“Leigh The Mime” a professional mime artist who has been performing locally and
abroad since 1997.

The beneficiary of the 2013 event is Ark SA, a Not for Profit Company established
to encourage Acts of Random Kindness. However, Ark SA prefers to be seen as
amovement …. A throwback to a time when society used to be concerned with the
wellbeing of their neighbours!

Their quest is to move across South Africa, encouraging goodness through Acts of
Random Kindness – one person at a time. The idea is simple : “perform one Act of
Random Kindness (an Arkº) every time one of our projects is activated.” Ark SA works
with individuals and corporates to make a difference in the communities in which it
operates.

The proceeds of this gala event will go towards building the very first Ark SA multi-
purpose centre in Greyton to service a community torn in half by poverty, split into the
do-gooders and the wrongdoers. This centre will house a crèche, youth centre, sporting
facility, library, reading room, coffee shop and a much needed skills development
workshop.

Tickets cost R300 per person to attend this fabulous gala event which includes a
5 course dinner, mime and fashion show, live music, etc. and are available from
Computicket.
